How often have you walked into an audition feeling confident and prepared? It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? An audition is an exciting opportunity. So once that audition is secured, having a Checklist in place can enable you to make the most of every opportunity.
Wouldn’t it be great to walk into the room feeling confident and prepared every single time? My 3-Part Audition Checklist has helped me achieve this, and I’m happy to share it with you!
I covered what to do when you get the audition in Part 1 last week. Be sure to check it out if you missed it.
So if you’re all caught up, let’s move on to Part 2:
The Night Before
1. Confirm
Check your calendar for the time and address, and make sure you have directions. Also confirm when you need to leave so you arrive with time to spare. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
2. Avoid Salt and Alcohol
This stuff can make your face puffy, so best to leave it for another night. 🙂
3. Work On Your Sides
You should be ready to go with the work you’ve already done on the script. So don’t overdo it, but make sure you run your lines and touch on all your work before you go to sleep.
4. Lay Out Your Wardrobe
You already picked your outfit, so just lay it out or make it easily accessible for the next day. Don’t forget jewelry, socks, shoes, etc.
5. Get Your Bag Ready
Make sure your bag is ready to go with whatever you’ll need. Sides, resume, snacks, water, etc.
6. Meditate
If you have a meditation practice, it can be helpful to calm you down so you can sleep more deeply.
7. Tap Into Your Joy
I think this is a great way to end every day, and especially the night before your audition. Think about the joy you will feel in getting to do what you love the next day. It might sound silly, but gratitude can be a wonderful way to ease tension and promote a feeling of well-being and confidence.
8. Sleep
Sleep is a wonder drug. Get as much as you can so you wake up refreshed.
Next week I’ll cover Checklist Part 3 – The Day Of.
Now it’s your turn. Do you have a checklist in place for the night before an audition? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
