Thanks for your question, Michael. I hear you. I know as actors we have a lot on our plates, and adding “write a blog post” to our to-do list can seem daunting.
But there are great reasons to add a blog section to your website, and I don’t want you to miss out on opportunities.
Adding a blog to your site is a great way to keep your site current. This does two important things. When someone visits your site, they will get the impression that you’re a busy actor because you have an up-to-date website. And regularly updated content makes search engines happy, which makes you and your website easily Google-able.
The good news is, writing a blog post doesn’t have to be hard! Here are three tips to make blog posting a breeze:
1. Turn “Blog” into “Latest News”.
For some people, doing this one thing makes the process so much easier. Now, instead of wondering what to “blog” about, you simply post what you’re up to.
Not sure about what to post? Here are some ideas:
- Are you in an acting class you love? Share the news on your site.
- Have you seen a film that inspired you? Share a bit about your taste and creative process and shine the light on others’ work.
- Did you recently get new headshots? Awesome – there’s your next update!
2. Be consistent.
At the very least, you should post to your blog monthly. For example, you could post the first Wednesday of every month. Make the decision, put it in your calendar and set reminders.
3. Keep it short and sweet.
Guess what? Your post doesn’t have to be a tome. A few lines of what you’ve been up to are all that’s needed to keep your site updated. Easy, peasy!
Now it’s your turn. Do you have any questions you’d like to see answered? Send me a note – I’d love to hear from you!
